Lacson: “Nasaan ka bakuna?”
Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson enumerated the total loans the Philippines has acquired from different financial institutions which has amounted to Php 126.75 Billion in his Twitter post followed by a “Nasaan ka bakuna?” remark questioning where are the vaccines that the government has purchased.
The Philippines has acquired loans from World Bank (WB), the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) from April last year to March 2021 to help the country cope with the pandemic and economic turmoil including purchase of COVID-19 vaccine.
He also highlighted the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act which provided Php 10-Billion funding under the Department of Health (DOH) for vaccine.
There are total of 17 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine as of February from LGU’s and private sector combined.
“Instead of treating them as partners and assisting them, government regulated and controlled everything by requiring them to go through government procurement,” said Lacson.
